Our meeting point is the port of Aegina,where a tour guide will be waiting for you.
Firstly,we will to the Temple of Apollo,which is near the port,on the left side as you get off the ship.It is originally called Collona, known for it's one and only pillar, which is the only remaining thing from the Temple of Apollo , built in a Doric order and dominates the hill.
We will also visit the archaelogical museum,where many findings from the excavatios are displayed.
Our first destination is one of the most visited sites on Aegina, Agios Nektarios (Saint Nektarios) The monastery of Saint Nektarios is the most important religious monument of Aegina and the church is one of the biggest churches in Europe. Agios Nektarios was known as a great miracle worker, as a healer of every sort of disease.He was also an educator, philosopher,theologist,poet and writer.Nowadays,thousands of people visit the tomb of Agios Nektarios, to pray to him or ask his blessings.
Our next destination is the most famous and interesting ancient monument of Aegina, the Temple of Aphaia which used to be among the most important religious centers in ancient Greece.It's Doric peripheral construction (having columns surrounding the building) of local gray limestone has been partially restored.
The Temple of Aphaia, the Acropolis of Athens and the Temple of Posidon in Sounion form an isoskeles triangle known as " the sacred triange of antiquity ".
Our next stop is the beautiful village of Agia Marina where there will be some free time for a walk or to have a swim at the beautiful wide sandy beach.
